MassLive contributor Ken Ross included Château de Nalys Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grand Vin 2017 and Gary Farrell Winery Russian River Selection Chardonnay 2019 in a column about high end wines to splurge on this holiday season.
Ross notes that Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of his favorite wine regions, especially at the $50 – $100 price point, noting that they are “consistently full-bodied yet elegant, rugged yet refined.” Continuing he says that the Nalys Grand Vin “hits the bullseye.” Described as delightful and charming, he finds a range of flavors from “dark chocolate, roasted cherries and blackberries to leather, coffee and almonds.”
As a longtime fan of Gary Farrell wines, he begins by saying that you can’t go wrong with any bottle from this Sonoma Valley producer. Described as intense, dense and earthy, the Russian River Selection Chardonnay “bursts with robust yet elegant flavors, including sea salt, green apples, toasted butter and the wonderful fog-like mist notes often found in great Russian River Chardonnays.” Read the full story HERE
