Peter Hoyne of the Chicago Wine Press recommended Champagne Ayala Le Blanc de Blancs 2015 as one of the top champagnes tasted this past year.
He explains that the 100% Chardonnay expression, produced from “three Grand and two Premier Cru villages on the Côte des Blancs and is only produced in the finest of vintages.” Continuing, he adds, “the aromas showcase brioche and field flowers. This expressive Champagne has fine bubbles and is true to the house style, revealing elements of Bosc pear, fresh Granny Smith apples, yellow citrus peel and a touch of stones. The fresh acidity leads to a long and vibrant finish.”
