The Robb Report weighs in on the best wines to pair with chocolate surrounding this years Valentines holiday. They say the rule of thumb is to match the sweetness of the chocolate with the sweetness of the wine, or else dry wine will taste bitter. In an effort to “stick to the sweet stuff” they advise that with sweet wines made from red grapes, as in the case with Port, to pair with darker chocolate, feeling free to add nuts or caramel. They write a glowing review of the Quinta do Noval 2015 Vintage Port saying “it is full bodied on teh palate with flavors of blackberry preserves, candied orange rind, and a touch of anise in the post palate.”

Douro Valley, Portugal
One of the oldest port houses, Quinta do Noval is also arguably the greatest. It is unique among top port houses in that most of the ports are made from estate-grown fruit and, notably, all of the vintage Noval wines are from the single Quinta do Noval vineyard.
