A Merry Wave of Holiday Cheer for Juvé & Camps

A burst of holiday coverage for Juvé & Camps Sparkling wines! Somm TV notes that Juvé & Camps is one of the only producer making a single-varietal Xarel-lo Cava.  The publication says “At Juvé & Camps, the Finca d’Espiells soils are low in organic matter, and the climate is warm and dry.  These factors are crucial for growing Xarel-lo which, despite its strength, is a very sensitive grape that performs much better in low yields. 

Decanter celebrates 100 years of production at Juvé y Camps, and mentioned that the estate is at the forefront of its category, and all Spanish wines. “While celebrating 100 years of experience and commitment, Juvé & Camps looks at the future with an eye on the past, bridging tradition and innovation.” 

Sevenfifty Daily says that vintage is becoming more important in Cava production.  Climate change is looming for vintage quality, and the winemakers will adapt accordingly. “For Meritxell Juvé, the CEO of Juvé & Camps and a fourth-generation family member, working organically has become much more challenging in light of these climate-included changes. “In some years, when we had a strong impact of mildew in the vineyard, working organically was a clear handicap. In fact, [we saw] a reduction of our yield by about 50 to 60 percent, while nonorganic producers had only a 25 to 30 percent reduction. It really makes it more difficult.”
