Nestled on the outskirts of a charming ancient village in the far north of the Ribera del Duero D.O., Pagos de Anguix is the realization of a family dream to build a winegrowing legacy in one of the most prestigious appellations in Spain. The estate produces structured, age-worthy wines from Tinto Fino (also known as Tempranillo) that offer a refined and sophisticated expression of Ribera del Duero with the utmost emphasis on elegance and balance. All wines are farmed organically and 100% estate grown, produced, and bottled on-site.
Situated at an elevation of 2,800 feet, Pagos de Anguix farms 218 acres of certified organic vineyards, home to Tinto Fino vines between 20 and 40 years old — considered the prime age for achieving wines with impeccable flavor and concentration. These vineyard parcels are all located within 2.5 miles of the winery, and give birth to wines that epitomize longevity while also showcasing the ability to be enjoyed in their youth.
The estate is owned by the third and fourth generation of the Juvé family — the centuries-old winegrowing name behind Spain’s iconic sparkling producer, Juvé & Camps. The family’s heart remains in Penedès, but in a decision to look further ahead, they were driven by the desire to build a winegrowing legacy in one of the most prestigious appellations in Spain. In 2017, the first vintage of Pagos de Anguix was underway.
The winery is located in the “Golden Diamond”, the most prestigious area of the rocky Ribera del Duero region. The days are mild and the nights very cold, creating the ideal conditions for environmentally friendly, high-quality viticulture. The soils are shallow and sandy, with high limestone and iron content.
Pagos de Anguix proudly presents wines named after their parcels of provenance: Costalara, Barrueco and Prado Lobo, with the introductory ‘Ocho Dos Dos’ (‘822’) providing a gateway to the range. All these wines are 100% estate-grown, produced, and bottled on-site, ensuring the utmost control over quality and authenticity.
Crafted in the cellar by skilled enologist Pedro Elena, Pagos de Anguix wines are characterized by tension, emphasizing vibrant fruit and seamless integration of oak. With savory nuances and a touch of maturity, these wines offer a refined and sophisticated expression of Ribera del Duero, expertly balancing elegance and harmony.
Technical Director José Manuel Pérez Ovejas was also brought in during the first vintage to guide the estate forward. With multiple recognitions for his contributions, José Manuel’s accolades include being named “Winemaker of the Year” in 2017 (Expansión), “Best Winemaker in Spain” in 2018 (La Semana Vitivinícola), and recently ‘Best Winemaker 2023’ (En el Salón Internacional ENOMAQ). His work represents his deep connection to the land and environment, and his expertise and experience are essential in producing exceptional wines that reflect his passion and commitment to excellence.

Ocho Dos Dos
Ribera del Duero
Ocho Dos Dos which translates to ‘822’ in Spanish, stands for ‘822 meters of elevation’ (2,700 feet). It represents a fresher and more modern style, revealing the character of Tempranillo: Currant and blackberry aromas, with great freshness and soft tannins.
Costalara
Ribera del Duero
This is a wine made for lovers of truly emblematic Ribera del Dueros that will gain complexity with a little bottle age. The rocky surface of the soil, combined with calcareous clay beneath, gives this red wine its balanced profile and fruit-laden character, with a predominance of red fruit complemented by balsamic and liquorice notes, and a slightly spicy nuance. It is a powerful, structured wine with aromas of fine wood (vanilla and white pepper notes) and ripe black fruit.
Barrueco
Ribera del Duero
Barrueco is mostly aged in French oak for more than a year, which contributes to the profile of this intense wine with nuances of red and black fruit embellished with floral, balsamic, and vanilla notes. A magnificent wine that will improve with bottle ageing over the next 10 years.
Prado Lobo
Ribera del Duero
Prado Lobo, the deepest of the Pagos de Anguix wines. Made exclusively from the Tinto Fino varietal (Tempranillo), the vines grow in calcareous clay soils ideally equipped to maintain the roots at the perfect moisture level during the driest months of the year. This age-worthy wine was aged for 24 months in extra fine grain French oak barrels and shows full aromatic richness. The wine is structured, succulent, and balanced, revealing a harmonious encounter between maturity and freshness that is long, seamless, and deep.

Technical Director José Manuel Pérez Ovejas was brought in during the first vintage to guide the estate forward. Meritxell Juvé
Meritxell Juvé grew up surrounded by vineyards, playing among wine racks and hiding in wine cellars. Although she never felt pressured to be part of her family business, she came to realize, after working in other industries, she could not stay away from the winery and her family’s legacy. After graduating with a Business degree and an MBA from ESADE Business School in Barcelona. Txell (short for Meritxell) moved to Singapore where she developed an understanding of the Asian markets that she would later translate into the growth of Juvé y Camps export sales.
In 2011, Txell returned home to join the family business, holding several key positions and travelled extensively to promote and build the brand internationally. While completing a Master’s degree in Enology, Viticulture, and Wine Marketing from Mercè Rosell’s Institute. In 2015 under Txell’s leadership, she certified all the family vineyards (close to 700 acres) as organic by the European Agency CCPAE. Making Juvé & Camps one of the largest organic estates in Spain. Txell also worked closely with the winemaking team to create new styles of both cava and still wines to complement their successful portfolio. In 2016, Txell Juvé became J&C Prime Brands’ first woman CEO. Completing the generational transition that the company had been preparing for quite some time. Txell represents the fourth generation to manage the family-owned estate and is committed to upholding the brand’s legacy and ethos of quality and prestige. Another bold move by Txell was to diversify and evolve Primeras Marcas. Juve & Camps, importer of fine wines and spirits business, by expanding their En Premieur category. Txell, was able to source from the most coveted Bordeaux producers for both private and commercial collectors. Primeras Marcas is Spain’s largest En Premieur importer and exclusively represents brands such as, Petrus, Louis Roederer, Louis Latour, Leon Beyer, Gaja, and many more noteable estates in Spain. In 2018 J&C Prime Brands achieved their dream and acquired Pagos de Anguix, a rare 215 acres of Tempranillo vineyards in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Which frames this classic estate to produce some of the countries most sought after, complex red wines. The first investment outside of the Penedès. J&C Prime Brands is the holding company of: Juvé & Camps (Cavas, Penedès), Propietat d’Espiell (Still wine, Penedès), Pagos d’Anguix (Still wine, Ribera del Duero) and Primeras Marcas (importer and distributor).
Growing up in her father’s footsteps meant being in and out of award-winning restaurants. Which gave Txell an appreciation for food and wine from a very early age. She enjoys cooking at home and tasting first hand the latest culinary craze in her hometown of Barcelona. Txell Juvé currently resides in Barcelona with her husband, a New Zealand transplant, their young daughter, and dog Bacchus. In her precious spare time she enjoys the outdoors, arts, learning new languages and exploring different cultures.
